Annual Events

Several signature events demonstrate OMSA's commitment to enhancing the student experience. Among them are celebrations of academic achievement, career and graduate school opportunities and connections to valuable resources. OMSA hosts these events for the enrichment, encouragement, recognition and fellowship of students.

The Freshman Seminar during the first week of the fall semester introduces new students to the campus and to OMSA's services. The Multicultural Career Fair, traditionally held every October, serves as a networking and career-enhancing opportunity for students at every level of study and in a diverse array of majors. It features recruiters offering internships, fulltime jobs, graduate school opportunities and information from volunteer and public service organizations. McNair Scholars have the opportunity to showcase the results of their research at the Summer Research Institute. During the annual Mom's Day Weekend festivities in April, the Mom's Day Scholastic Awards Ceremony honors the academic achievement of students who have earned a grade point average of 3.45 or higher. And, to recognize December grads, OMSA has traditionally hosted the Multicultural Congratulatory.

OMSA staff coordinates and hosts these events as a token of appreciation for the hard work, dedication and community enrichment students bring to Illinois. Students are the guests of honor at OMSA's annual events, and their participation is welcomed and appreciated.
